The lemon shark is the most well-studied shark of them all, as they are incredibly tolerant to being held in captivity for long periods of time. This ability to keep a shark in captivity is oftentimes not possible for other shark species, so the lemon is the basis for study. Lemon sharks are typically the sharks you would see in an aquarium.

Their abundancy and our constant interaction with them makes it all the more impressive that there has been only 10 lemon shark attacks, with none being fatal.
